We know Kat *thinks* she died from a candle being lit and burning down her house, but what if she was sacrificed by said parents, or killed unintentionaly by them (hopefully the later if it’s either of these two) when they were training/following out their vows vs. – whatever they would be fighting…
why? most extremists don´t give a damn – its what makes the difference to ‘normal’ murderers, that they´re willing to go to extremes no one sane would…
also, it could be argued that they sacrificed their daughter to turn her into a powerful wraith that could serve their master better then a mere mortal girl ever could – they were swearing their very soul to their master, whats taking a life against that?!
as a matter of fact, maybe KAT was the intended target all along, because she forgot the ‘faith’ she was raised in and the oath she´s taken, no matter how unknowing?
Thank you for the aggression but I had written “GOOD INTENTIONED EXTREMISTS” those tropes generally have a moral line. They usually seem to hate the idea of harming children and sacrificing them for the greater good.
And Kat’s parents seem to be monster hunters themselves. Which in any verse can go over a line without thinking of it.
It’s my own feelings on this. Excuse me for not feeling that they’d intentionally kill her considering she flat out said that it was an accident on her own part. Her own dang fault. Which can easily happen in real life. There does not need to be a supernatural or occult reason behind it.
I hope you are right. If they didn’t realize they were pledging themselves to BoD then it makes total sense what you are say.
If they willingly were devil worshipers though, that could go anywhere on the map. I don’t know if a child might block out that type of trauma of being sacrificed or even have been clubbed or drugged or something so she wouldn’t wake up. What better way of serving the father of lies than making sure your child would believe a lie for all eternity as an undead?
I’m hoping your idea is the way this was where they had good intentions that ended up being – not.
I’m not sure I get it. In the context of the Evil One referring to himself as Bringer of Dawn, this makes them Satanists. But is that what they meant at the time?
to be fair – and literally play the devils advocate here – not ALL satanists are the evil ‘sacrificing goats’-type.
lucifer means lightbringer, and was the greatest among the angels before the fall, and the disobedience that got him kicked out of heaven was simply refusing to bow to newly created adam, stating that humans aren´t perfect but quite flawed. merely having a different opinion then god was enough to receive harsh punishment. which is why some satanists worship him as someone who allows free will and to make ones own choices in difference to god who demands mindless obedience. that all he did back with that apple-thing was prooving his point, and that just because he´s not gods yes-man doesn´t mean he´s evil. basically, god just has the better pr.
Yeah, to modern ears it sounds weird. I think it sounds protective rather than antagonistic. I understand the actual intention, but only because I have context.
…wait. Does that mean they’re good intentioned extremists who killed an innocent?
Welp. That’s very sad. DX

I doubt it. Even if they’re extremists,I highly doubt they’re child murderers.

“We serve the Dawn.”
…
Just got it.
Brilliant, Dave. Really brilliant.

Dangit Lucy, going around messing with Victorian era family’s dinners even? Is nothing sacred?
I don’t get the “get thee behind me” saying.

It’s biblical.
