The problem with that is that it’s the parents who called it a tusk moon and said it was time to feed. Also, the caption for today is “He’s quick,” which must refer to Mr Ellivander, since Sue and Kathryn are both girls. This seems to imply that he changed back while running behind the house, or something similar.
But if the parents *know* that the kids are were-elephants and that this is the time of month they have to keep a special eye on the tykes it makes sense. Also this strip http://www.sueandkathryn.com/comic/sue-and-kathryn-26/ where they are served peanut-everything for dinner, the adults are like “what even is this??” while the kids are noshing it down. Also when Kat confronts the adults it’s the kids who right away declare they are not were-elephants http://www.sueandkathryn.com/comic/sue-and-kathryn-29/ which seems suspicious to me. I think it’s the kids and Mr. E. is there looking pissed because he has been trying to keep the kids away from people who might know or find out what they are.
Okay, I´m calling it now: The were-elephants are the Ellivander kids.
I do believe you’re right.
Makes sense. After all, the story goes that were-elephants were the servants of the elves, not the elves themselves. (See http://www.sueandkathryn.com/comic/sue-and-kathryn-9/)

And when Kathryn plays her recording, it is the kids, not Mrs Ellivander, who we see acting exactly like the were-elephant does later on.
But its the adults who freaked out at the sight of a mouse…
I’m so happy my prediction was spot on. XD
