Between the “holy ray” and the “serving the Dawn” lines, it sounds like these are Laser Priests (or at least in a related Order) and Kathryn’s family were, during her life, affiliated with the Laser Priests. Or the group that would later become the Laser Priests.
but back to the plot, seems as if those a#holic laser priests are, knowingly or not, working for the devil. just why am i *not* surprised? those holier-than-thou people are never as good as they pretend to be
Laser priests & Lucy: awesome-sauce. We’ve got some manipulative as all get-out spirits held in confinement too, so they’re just building up one heck of an army for Lucy (probably unknowingly, but who knows, maybe the head zapper is in the know?)

Would that be the Big bad dads or the bad big dads? May the big bad bigdads of Bagdad?
