Technically, the “were” in “werewolf” refers to the human half. This particular therianthrope would be more accurately called a “frogwere” as it’s a frog becoming human.
Granted, kids watching this as a show might not get that, but still.
Theoretically, could Kat cure other forms of therianthropy by infecting them with this?
But usually that is because it’s a human turned into something else, not something else that occasionally is a human. So if it’s a frog the majority of the time and a human only during certain phases of the moon, wouldn’t the frog part come first? (which also leads me to question why anything were doesn’t just move to where the sun never sets for most of the year – Alaska to Australia and back I guess?
You can still get the moon during the day. Now, whether the stronger light of the sun interferes with the effect of the moonlight is another matter, but you do see some works where if the moon rises before sunset the change still happens at moonrise. Also, Australia isn’t far enough south to get the extreme night/day cycle. Going south, Antarctica proper is your only option for midnight sun.
There is one in Terry Prachett’s book, and that one still referred as “werewolf”, even if the first time they say, he is actually a “reverse werewolf”. Sadly i dont remember the actual term what was used, i read it a long time ago…
i love the mothers face – a poor, innocent frog turned into something as disgusting as a human….the horror!
reminds me of a cracky story about a poor monster that was cursed to turn into a human, complete with the urge to sleep in a bed, drink coffee, get a job and a pet….and he/it hated every moment of it.
You know how in popular culture you often see feral humanoids, usually with claws? The only to examples I have is Smeagol and the monsters from the first uncharted game, usually there some kind of undead or mutants, I think I saw a large troll version once. Anyway I wish there was a fandom based around it, oh yeah the ghouls from warcraft 3 count to.
Because that couldn’t possibly end poorly…

Werefrog, maybe? Since the “were” part is usually at the front.

Frogwere, after “wolfwere,” a wolf that can become a man.
