Uh, Dave… Antimatter-matter reactions release a lot of energy. A *LOT* of energy. As in a few grams reacting more energetically than a hydrogen bomb. By hundreds of times the yield, IIRC. A man-portable antimatter flamethrower would not be a burner of things. It would basically be a man-portable planet-killer.
You don’t need to play that fast and loose to have good WHY WOULD YOU MAKE THIS! For exsample “these are Mexican jumping beans but with knives on”, “to simplify the use of these guns I removed the trigger, instead they fire randomly around once an hour.”, “This is just a wasp’s nest, I think it’s use should be self exsplanitory”, “this is a coffee press I miscalabrated, now it’s a fusion bomb.”, “I don’t know what this is and nobody else does, infact I’m pretty sure that no information directly related to it can be known for more than a few minutes, I think I made it but I dunno, try throwing it at something, maybe something’ll happen?”, “I realized that with teliportation and portals pieces of a machine don’t actually need to be contiguous, for example this gun looks small but it actually has exsactly as much firepower as Texas, exsactly, try not to fire it too much.”, “these are two portal guns I modified, fire them at the same time, one at the enemy and one down, as the downwards portal travels through the crust the other one will spew a mile long cylinder of rock at bullet speeds as it itseld is heading towards someone you really don’t like.”, “This is a reverse gun, point it at someone you like to suck the bullets outa them.”, “I don’t know what this is and nobody else does, infact I’m pretty sure that no information directly related to it can be known for more than a few minutes, I think I made it but I dunno, try throwing it at something, maybe something’ll happen?”, “This is a rotten egg, throw it at something so they smell real nasty.”
“This is the bee zone projector, it’s all bees, everything’s bees and this makes them remember, BEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ”, “this is a high density cloner, when it’s fired thousands of your own magneticaly accelerated corpses fly out every which way”, “I don’t know what this is and nobody else does, infact I’m pretty sure that no information directly related to it can be known for more than a few minutes, I think I made it but I dunno, try throwing it at something, maybe something’ll happen?”
The Texas gun is my favorite of these. I also liked… uh… hmmm. I forget the second one I liked. Maybe if I take this thing laying here on the ground and throw it at the wall I’ll remember?”
It depends on how much mass the antimatter flamethrower uses. A few atoms at a time wouldn’t destroy planets, or even blow up the neighborhood. OTOH, much of the energy released by an antimatter-matter reaction is in the form of hard gamma rays, so it’s likely that this device would kill every living thing in the neighborhood before it could even light kindling.
or, perhaps, a crossover with Oglaf characters where everyone involved learns the very important lesson of understanding a joke, particularly a hilarious one.
Naturally Sithrak will be a little confused, but politely send the two of them back to earth after haaving a moment to chat about using power responsibly.
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth Elliot. At least Kat has weapons that aren’t brooms. XD
It seems really easy to accidently hurt yourself with that sword…
Wouldn’t using anti-matter anything in a normal atmosphere make a very very very big crater…?
Yeah, they should all be dead right now.
xD to see if I can. gotta love kath

I have to confess to some handwaving and playing fast-and-loose with the actual science of these things. All in the name of “WHY WOULD YOU MAKE THIS”.

I think the real question is: why would you not?
Elliot’s question has an obvious answer: “for SCIENCE!”, as in http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20140813
But the first panels mostly reminded me of certain dwarvish inventions (NSFW) https://www.oglaf.com/obituator/ http://www.oglaf.com/cavalcade/
Tentatively approving this because I love Oglaf, but I wanna make sure people know, y’all gonna see some cartoon penises if you click to that
Hurray for Oglaf!
Selkie-universe crossover in our future?
How about no cuz it’s a grown up comic? :/
Nothing wrong with the comic itself but it’d be inappropriate.

Then attempts to turn himself into an Echo, and up teleporting himself and Avery to the Realm of Sithrak.
