Hi Sarah.
Had an amusing conversation on Discord regarding the trees I got permission to share. Comes with mild behind-the-scenes info, too. >_>
Hi Sarah.

so…the sapling from the haunted tree and phil is a sweet little girl tree? with leaves?! *blinks* they should totally neuter phil, less there are talking trees popping up all over their neighborhood, some of whom might take after their father *shudder* although, how the HECK do you neuter a tree?!
Normally I’d say remove the foliage but Phil and HT managed this without any so… fire?
But how can they reproduce?! They’re undead!
A daywalker vampire who ate her own brain and learned to use vitamins to shoot beams from a talking carrot is having a conversation with a branch from literal hell after almost killing a talking sapling in a yard that also has a tree begging for death in it, and *that’s* what bothers you?
A daywalker vampire with devil powers who learned how to shoot beams of energy using her body’s nutrients from a giant talking carrot is mowing a lawn growing in the shade of a giant sod-off tombstone house she and her ghost scientist housemate who is a genius who regularly violates the laws of nature for s***s and/or giggles inhabit with the offspring of a rabbit and a giant tailless scorpion sorceress (said offspring, beeteedubs, can sting people *bigger*), and the thing that gets you is how two talking trees inhabited by souls can reproduce?
You know trees can survive being mowed. There was one tree that grew too close to our shed so we cut it down. It didn’t like being cut down so it spread underground and shot up new shoots. Then we cut those shoots so it spread and sent up even more. We also have vines we’ve been trying to exterminate so they stop killing the flowers and bushes, but that tree is even worse than the vines.
So it really is a good thing that Sarah didn’t get mowed, but not for the reason Sue thinks. If Sue mowed Sarah enough, she might have taken over the whole yard with her shoots and uprooted her parents in the process!
If she uprooted her parents, would that actually be a bad thing?
Well she would probably be upset. I think pretty much all children, even psychopaths, would be upset if they accidentally killed their parents. In Sarah’s case, one of them would likely see it as a relief, and the other probably deserves it, but it would still be very traumatizing for her.
…
Thanks, Dave.
Now Dave has us concerned for the well-being of a tree in a fictional TV series within a webcomic. A tree that’s appeared in two panels and has had three lines of dialog. He’s really milking his talent for creating empathetic characters.
Gentle doesn’t automatically mean good guys, btw. I’m sure there would be a way of being gently evil?
Yep… Just like Lawful GOOD does NOT mean Lawful NICE…
Well at least it’s not another possessed doll.
Now, this kinda makes me worried about Phil’s comment on “pollinating” the Ellivander’s mom… Tree-Elf-Baby-saga when?
That’d be nightmare fuel and now I wanna do it. ;P
Just for the record’ there are some trees that come in Either all “Male” or all “Female.” Imma loookin’ at Yous, Hollytree. They are “dioecious“, having male and female on separate trees.
