Almost went with “birch” but it felt too easy.
-EDIT- I opted to listen to reader feedback and go back to Birch. It just works better.

Awww, “birch” would have been mo’ bettah.
Agree, sometimes the easy jokes are better. If you’re going with the theory that this is a cartoon in-universe of Selkie, that’s a classic “under the radar” joke for the parents watching alongside their kids c:
“Nice Booby Trap.” — Eddie Valiant, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Walt Disney Studios
I also think ‘birch’ would’ve been better. Having ‘fir’ used as an insult right after ‘pinecone’ was used as an insult makes it sound almost like there’s tree racism between deciduous trees and conifers – which, yeah, might be a thing, but that doesn’t usually come up in kids’ cartoons except in Very Special Episodes.
gotta agree with the pro-birch guys here, especialy since i don´t get how being a fir is supposed to be an insult – pinecone is clear, its pain in the b#&, but fir?
Same here. I’ve been trying to figure out the connection for 10 minutes and not even Google is helping.
