OMG, had not remembered about that. Diana – still reigning down like silver, how can an anger that burned so brightly suddenly burn so low? Bright Eyes.
What is the past tense of smite, anyway? Smitten has so many connotations, and smited just seems wrong. Smote? Bad-Doggy, prepare to be smote!
The fact that the ritual requires a sacrifice implies the amount of power that can be brought down is in some way limited. But I dunno if that’s relevant to a particular smiting.
Also, while I’m Ranting: Dave, did you invent “Sue et Kathryn” just to have fun subverting tropes? I’m calling you in this. An Evil teddy bear, an evil Doggy, a Noble Wraith, elves with a mercantile heart? I mean it reads like you just wanna poke fun at the dominant paradigm.
OOoooow, don’t punch the spirit that is gonna be the sword that slays ya! That’s bad karma, or in your case Dog-ma.
I can’t help wondering if Diana’s still on the line, waiting for the next part of the ritual. Might not be the best idea to go slapping her acolytes…

More than a little bit, yes! Also note: The Lord of Evil is associated with Day and the Sun.
I think that’s why I love this comic so much, it takes all the usual tropes and does something new and interesting with them!
