“Dawn worshipers”, such as Kat’s parents and the laser priests. Are they aware that the Bringer of Dawn is Lucifer? I could see this as any of “We had NO IDEA that our leader was actually THAT entity”, “Yes, we know, but he’s actually the good guy; he got a bum rap because history is written by the winners”, or “We know he’s evil, and we want our share of the spoils”.
Only the tippy-top echelon of the Order are aware of it, and they would fall into your second camp. Everyone else in the command chain is taught that they follow a beacon of order and good, standing at the vanguard against the creeping grasp of Darkness.
Ooh… i see shades of how Piers Anthony treated the Devil in his book “for love of evil” him being a quite humble and religious priest or monk or whatever (i forget exactly what he was) that basically said that “if i am to combat evil in all its forms, then i must KNOW evil in ALL it’s forms…” and basically set himself a Task to KNOW what evil IS… in order to actually be effective when trying to combat it later… unbeknownst to him though, that just so happens to be one of the ways that one BECOMES the Devil … and now HE has to DO evil things even though HE really ISN’T evil
Is that an Incarnations of Immortality book? I didn’t realize the series went past five. I recall that in the books on Death Time Nature War and Fate they said something about God and the Devil being Incarnations, but I didn’t realize the Devil got his own entry in the series. Hmmm…
Sometimes you just gotta take your complaint straight to the top.
well, she wrestled with he-who-shall-not-be-tagged already, might as well shout at a goddess too
Which reminds me of a question I had for Dave.

Maybe because… it doesn’t work that way?
