Why would she want to do that? If she’s a weapon, then any sort of accountability washes away for anyone she hurts or kills. Actually being the person who uses that weapon is a completely different situation.
Because she lacked the confidence in herself to actually be the wielded of the blade (as we’re putting it). She figured it’d be the most direct way to “do good” without the potential to falter (as if you’re not controlling anything anymore, you can’t lose control)
She didn’t account for the fact that the conviction it’d take to effectively decide to sacrifice your future to try & make up for your family’s past, which is one of those “sounds good in theory” ideas (get made into a sword, wielded gets beat, become villains sword: big flaw in plan) is only good in theory, and that that conviction would probably be part of why Diana would want her to stay alive to do things with that life (it takes some gumption to talk back to a god the way she did)
Her outrage only further proved Diana’s point in keeping her alive (even if she didn’t feel a need to fully explain the reasoning; fickle gods & all that)
But yeah, affecting change as opposed to being a tool for change is the better plan by a large margin.
Oh, man. That actually makes her even more tragic, if she’s basically seeking to commit ritualistic suicide in order to absolve herself of crimes she didn’t commit…
I’m absolutely loving Sue here. It’s bound to take some time for her to heal from all this but I think if she were willing to go, she could help Sue & Kathryn with their work. It’d probably be good for her. And the ultimate redemption if Marie ends up being the one to take down Soleil.
“Jaywalkers”?
( … snerk … )
🙂 … 😛 … 😀
In the “Pecking-Order” of criminals, even Pickpockets get more respect than Jaywalkers.
Seriously, Marie, you **DON’T** need to be a “Sword”…
…based on the amount of redemption you’re trying to earn, what you need to be is a “Sword_Wielder”…
…maybe even an ally of Sue_&_Kathryn, & …
…oh, looky there…
…why, here’s a brand-new silver sword, bonded with **THREE** souls…
…just **WAITING** to be wielded!
(hint-hint)
(wink-wink) … 😉

ON_A_SEPARATE_NOTE:
I’m still not clear on just exactly what the purpose is, of having the sword “attuned” to a chosen wielder.
For instance, is Soleil attuned to her sword?
If that is indeed what we’re reading here, I like “new sidekick” a lot better than “new villain”. But I’m still wondering about the implications of “belonging to the Sun”.

Slight nitpick:
The word you want there is effect, not affect. She wants to create/implement change, not merely have an impact on it.
Gah, I mistyped & autocorrect went the wrong way on me (it was a 50/50 shot, it missed & I was too trusting)
If I was still referencing her becoming a sword, then it would’ve been alright, but as it stands Autocorrect has failed me once again.
Oh, man. That actually makes her even more tragic, if she’s basically seeking to commit ritualistic suicide in order to absolve herself of crimes she didn’t commit…
I really wanna hug Marie. Very gently, of course.
Just don’t give a crap about your bloodline, Marie.

yeah, i´m sensing another mentorship here as well…..and hey, there´s already an epic blade waiting for marie!
….makes me wondering where soleil got hers from, though. surely no one willingly forged for a criminal?
Trickery, perhaps? Or it was before she became a criminal.

Do you take photos, candid pho-to-graphs, he asked him knowingly, wink-wink.
Yes, we sometimes take photographs.
Dave, the anguish she’s feeling, the Jay-walkers, My Gosh, the shame she must bear for yer family! H, the humanity!
MARIE joins the party.

You can get redemption for pretty much everything you listed, but jaywalkers, nope, can’t forgive that one.
Title of the new Necronomicon: “Jaywalking: The Eighth Deadly Sin“. Hhhmmmm, I gotta tell Kate Ashwin about this! Sidney will have to be on his guard.
