waitaminute, does that mean marie is dead?! that ‘boop’ was diana offing her?
one can´t really blame marie for loosing it after being pushed so hard…..though admittedly, trying to kill a goddess was plain insane, and from what we´ve seen from soleil, the idea that crazy runs in that family isn´t too farfetched.
and seeing how diana was absolutely not angry at marie during the whole mess and made her death quick+painless (instead of an epic smiting) i actually believe that she´s sorry for her….perhaps this whole thing was a stress test to see if marie could escape the fate of her ancestors or if she was bound to go nuts sooner pr later – and she failed most drastically
I’m so confused as to whether Marie is Soleil and just got sent back in time, or if they’re sisters and Marie was just killed by Diana Dx Then again, I imagine Dave WANTS us confused for the time being. Ya genius-storyteller bastard.
I personally feel like Luci is the worse of the two, but only by a very, VERY slight margin. Diana’s only redeeming quality is that she does SOME good things, and is more uncaring/vengeful when wronged than outright malevolent.
Well, “Soleil” is French for “Sun”…
…which would be about as far-removed from “Moon” as you could get…
…so it makes sense to me that Marie would rename herself thusly, to cut every last tie to her old life, under Diana.
Yeah, conflicting evidence here. On the one hand, Marie was told “Yours is the way of the Sun”, and she’s just gone through a transformation that makes her look exactly like Soleil, and she has a sword with the same name as the one we’ve already encountered. On the other hand, Diana seems to be strongly implying a family relation instead, and I don’t think we’ve seen any evidence of time travel being a thing in the S&K universe, have we?
Maybe the hinted family relation is to the vampire pixie instead — except she’s so old that she’d be more likely to be “ancestor” than “sister”.
So Diana wants the other priestesses to *think* that Marie is Soleil’s sister, but aren’t cooperating with the cover story and probably already realize what we figured out.
Argh typos. I meant “but Sue and Kathryn aren’t cooperating with the cover story” and I was counting Melodie as one of the priestesses. Anyway, you get my point.

Both deities suck. But I think Diana sucks the most.

Both still suck, though, absolutely.
Soliel is Marie’s sister, isn’t she?

I don’t think Marie renamed herself. I think she’s Soleil’s sister. Just the way sister is in all caps there.
If it’s one thing I’ve learnt from past encounters is that it’s usually not good when someone excuses a room to talk to someone alone.

Interesting.
