Dunno if she’d “embrace” tanlines, more like “endure” or something. On the other hand, this is supposed to be a cartoon for kids shown in the US, right? I’m somewhat surprised the last panel of the previous comic and the first panel of this comic would pass the censors. (They don’t bother me much TBH, I’ve watched anime like “Popotan” and read the webcomic YAFGC)
Actually, Total Drama Island and a few other 00’s cartoons had implied nudity, and TDI was rated TV-PG despite a certain scene with a bikini top being ripped off (though the breasts were kept hidden, much like the two panels in question seem to imply.). I don’t remember specific names, but I know a few other cartoons of the era had scenes of implied nudity being censored by convenient object placement. Then there was that whole episode of Ed Edd N Eddy with the boomerang where Edd becomes a nudist. That series also had a few other episodes with convenient censoring and implied nudity. If that stuff made it past the radar, I see no reason why the scenes implied by those panels wouldn’t.
The breasts weren’t hidden. You can easily find the flip on line with her knockers hanging out. Looks like it was recorded in Canada. Which makes sense, Bob and Margaret used to show mudity, both upstairs and down. They used to air uncensored on [AS]’s Oh Canada series as well.
also up to most 7 year olds I know would still strip down and run around naked if they’d get the chance. For older kids it’s just something hilariously ironic. I definitely should not have been exposed to Austin Powers when I was under 10, but the scene in the second one where they kept hiding body parts with fruit was one of the only jokes I /did/ get XD
I highly doubt it’s madness and more that she wants to block out some of what had happened. Cuz that would make more sense. Protecting herself from a time she was so hurt by someone she loves so much.
It doesn’t make sense for Sue and Kat to not remember her though. :/ I’m guessing time kinda can do that but still.
i´m not surprised that sue+kat didn´t made the connection between the crazy fairy with a weird accent and sweet marie….especially since there was divine time travel involved. even in their world its a rather far fetched concept – they probably think diana merely send her somewhere to cool off
No one commenting on the “No one runs in my family” bit? I’m guessing this twist on that old joke alludes to many fairies considering running to be something that only “lesser” (that is, wingless) species do.

It definitely seems like Marie has gone off the deep end since that day. She definitely wasn’t that much of a raging egomaniac before.

Or possibly that she killed her.
And maybe they did connect the dots afterward? We haven’t seen them for a while, after all.
Madness, or just a touch of the same fourth wall breaking which the gods have?
🤔
